Witness King Tides
Snap the sea, see the future What could Australia’s coast look like in the future?
Hobsons Bay City Council
By partnering with our local community and Green Cross
Australia, Hobsons Bay City Council hopes to create a long term
record of how our coastline changes over time. Hobsons Bay is just 10km west of central Melbourne and has over 20 km of coastline. Our coastline includes Cheetham Wetlands (an internationally recognised Ramsar site), the beautiful Altona beach and coastal park as well as the historical Williamstown foreshore. We welcome you to join us as we combine our 2014 Witness King Tides and World Environment Day events. This year, World Environment Day celebrates Small Island Developing Nations and provides an opportunity for us to reflect on how climate change and king tides are affecting our Pacific Island neighbours. Join us as performers from the low lying Pacific Island of Tuvalu share their culture and talk about what climate change means for them. Then head out to the fore shore with us as we record our coastline in images. For further information on this event, to be held on Sunday the 15th of June 2014 please see the Council's website. |
